Over a three-day weekend, Ballarò Buskers Festival takes over nine squares across Palermo’s Ballarò neighbourhood, bringing together 100 international artists for more than 40 free performances. The programme moves between acrobatics, juggling, music, clowning, puppetry and physical theatre.
Rather than relying on formal stages, the festival’s artists adapt their performances to doorways, alleyways and the façades of Baroque churches. Their work becomes part of the neighbourhood’s everyday rhythm, unfolding alongside fruit vendors, fishmongers and the surrounding street life.
The 2026 milestone edition is organised around the theme SEMI (Seeds), marking a decade of using street art as a means of urban regeneration, community building and poetic resistance. Its character is firmly grassroots, shaped by community networks such as SOS Ballarò and the contribution of more than 170 local volunteers.
